This story, unlike the last one, is crap. Just my opinion, of course, but it’s too far beyond our current technology to have more than a very slim chance of making any progress without lots more basic research first. It smells like an attempt at the lucrative government defense pork barrel to me.
This is the kind of stuff that I love to find! Technologies that are currently found only in science fiction, such as interstellar travel, all rely on a number of unspoken assumptions… for instance, that the people traveling that way have some way of eating during the trip. Call me a skeptic if you wish, but if there were a fog-shrouded hole in the Arctic Ocean that leads to the center of the Earth, wouldn’t it already be filled with the Arctic ocean?
