“Ellen Wins: One Million Moms Group Concedes JCPenney Fight”

I can’t understand groups like this so-called “One Million Moms” organization. What is it about lesbians that they fear so much? Why do they let themselves fear so much?

That’s a rhetorical question. I know exactly what they fear, and how it gets associated with anyone who’s different: fear-mongering politicians and religious “leaders” whose power is based on some big bad scary threat. And most of all I know how nonsensical it is.

You can’t live in fear. If you do, you aren’t really living. Your brain shuts down, your body goes into fight-or-flight mode. Your lifespan is shortened, and worst of all, you start spouting stupid shit and demanding that everyone else cater to your fears. Sorry, the time for that is long past. The majority just isn’t going to put up with it these days.

If I had to pick one single thing that I’m most grateful for in my life, it’s that technology (and most especially the Internet) has opened up the world to people, and made the majority realize that “different” isn’t automatically a synonym for “a threat.” It’s a small majority at present, but it’ll grow.
