E-mail is a wonderful invention. I’ve been using it since 1987 or thereabouts, when one of my uncles gave me a 300 baud acoustic modem that I could plug into my Sinclair QL, and I discovered the local FidoNet node. However, this wonderful innovation started becoming a burden about a decade ago — that’s when …
Once more unto the breech, dear friends…
Yes, it’s the Spam Roundup, a semi-regular feature of Geek Drivel that mocks the pathetic attempts of spammers and scammers to part us from our hard-earned money.

Here’s the latest installment in what is becoming a regular feature. The first in our hall of shame is a message with the subject line “Paraphernalia of high life รขโฌโ for less!” I thought it would be an ad for bongs and crack-pipes, and wondered how even spammers would get away with advertising that kind …
Continuing the series on accidentally-humorous spam messages… “Hit her entrails with your penis.” (Why would I want to?) “With Penis Enlarge Patch your penis will protrude like a balloon.” (Kind of embarrassing to walk down the street that way.) “I am ready to kill myself and eat my dog, if medicine prices here are bad.” …
I’m not sure what attracted the spammers’ attention, but a couple of my older blog posts have suddenly become spam magnets. They’ve gotten a steady stream of spam comments over the last couple days, obviously automated posts that are primarily full of nonsense sentences (“These experiences in those pay medical placidyl premises.”), and that also …
