Developing For Windows Mobile OS

Hm…

Go tinker with windows mobile.

As someone who has written serious, production-quality code for WM5 and WM6, I say this from many months of hard experience:

I WOULD RATHER STICK A FONDUE FORK THROUGH MY [censored].

Never the [censored] again will I develop for that platform. My god, I thought X11 was bad…

Do you get the idea that some people really despise developing for certain platforms? 🙂

  1. I can only imagine how bad it must be if it’s worse than the PalmOS SDK. (Though there are alternatives in the PalmOS world to using the raw SDK.) The PalmOS SDK is poorly documented, and most of the documentation is wrong because Palm radically changed the names of the API calls and their arguments over time. The current SDK, using GCC, is programmed differently than the better documented Code Warrior based SDK, which of course I don’t have, since it’s based on a commercial platform no longer available, making it doubly difficult. On top of that, I had to write it in a virtual machine running Windows on the Mac because the last time there was an SDK made for it that was GCC based on the Mac was with Panther (10.3).

  2. When I was developing for the Palm (circa 1998-2000), the SDK was very well documented. I’m disappointed to hear that it has gone downhill so much.
