You’ve obviously never had raw horseradish without the benefit of beets to dull the sharpness, which in turn is a necessity for gefilte-fish, which in turn, is a necessity for me on Shabbos or the Jewish police will take away my Yiddish license. 😉
As I rarely eat horseradish, have never eaten gefilte-fish (or desired to), and don’t have a Yiddish license, I’m not terribly worried about it. 🙂
I’ve never eaten lobster (which is not kosher, incidentally). I hear the difference is that gefilte-fish needs horseradish?
I’m not sure where lobster entered the conversation, but I don’t eat that either… the “cockroach of the sea” just doesn’t appeal to me.
It was a joke, gefilte-fish is sort of Jewish soul-food, not exactly considered fancy I guess though it was a delicacy when that sort of fish in general was in Eastern Europe, while lobster, from what I understand, is treife haute-cuisine seafood-wise; so they’re really at opposite ends of the pole, as it were.
People sometimes have very… interesting… definitions of “delicacy.” 🙂

Definition: A pastrami sandwich – at a deli…
To each his own, I guess. 🙂
