If all you&#039;re doing is repeating the same basic things over and over (such as word puzzles or Sudoku), you&#039;re not going to get any smarter. You have to tackle all sorts of different things, and learn all sorts of new ways to handle them.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Advanced math, computer programming, rocket science... it&#039;s not just that people who are smart are drawn to those subjects, but also that people who are drawn to them &lt;em&gt;get&lt;/em&gt; smart (or smarter), by working with them.&lt;/p&gt;
