“The art of software murder”

For those who strongly dislike Microsoft’s latest offering and how it’s being crammed down everyone’s throats, I offer this article. The last few paragraphs say it all:

What would it be like if a single piece of software were simultaneously afflicted with all the maladies listed above? It would surely be a gloomy prospect.

To coin a phrase, a truly miserable vista.

Merry Christmas all.

Don’t worry, the loss of their monopoly to Linux and Apple will soon be shoved down *their* throat.

  2. Head Geek Says:

Microsoft survived the release of Windows Millennium, so I doubt Vista will kill it either. Though it’s certainly driving more people away… at least Windows 2000 was a viable alternative to Millennium, there is no viable Microsoft-supplied alternative to Vista. Other than XP, of course — for the moment.

  3. Joshua Lee Says:

Note I said “the loss of their monopoly” not the “loss of their business”.

  4. Head Geek Says:

Their monopoly is also still safe at the moment.

  5. Joshua Lee Says:

Not nearly as safe as it used to be. Dell selling Linux home computers and Asus and many others selling cheap Linux subnotebooks are a small dent in the Microsoft juggernaut. (To mix metaphors.)

  6. Head Geek Says:

Still a pretty small dent, though it’s a beginning.

  7. Joshua Lee Says:

This dent is not accidental (glad my puns aren’t falling flat on your ears)

  8. Head Geek Says:

Don’t go there, friend… remember what happened the last few times you challenged me to a pun contest. ;-)

  9. Joshua Lee Says:

Don’t be so sure of yourself, winning has not been auto-matic.
